I really need to get a dash cam.
It's good that your insurance isn't on the line as I think it would be harder to get your stuff covered unless it was specifically endorsed. As everyone else said, the more you can prove the better. Receipts, pictures, shop slips for labor, etc. If the other insurance carrier gives you a hard time with the aftermarket parts, bring this up with your insurer and they may be able to weigh in to argue your case.
