You can't spot the details from 100 feet away. A 996 and 997 looks dated yet it is the general 911 shape. Ask any avg person, when they see a 992 vs a 996/997 (and dare i say a 991), they will be able to tell you which is the newer car.

And like I mentioned, details is what defines a car in most cases. I am still of the opinion that a Gen2 looks nothing like a Gen1. If that was the case, there wouldn't be such a strong preference, in terms of cosmetic, from one gen to another. Again, dated doesn't mean bad. It it the natural evolution of time and car designs.

Like dadhawk suggested, let's agree to disagree on this one. But one thing i will give you, i do miss my Gen1 because of RTV!!
