Got a set of these over a month ago but haven't quite gotten around to installing them just yet. I noticed this recommendation in the instructions and had a quick question about it...



"4.It is imperative that you do not damage the piston rod surface, through the use of pliers, etc. as even the smallest damage can result in seal damage, and will not be covered under warranty.A strap wrench is highly recommended to prevent the strut shaft from spinning. Wrap the strap wrench around the strut shaft twice for best results."


I'm sure I can get a strap wrench for this but I don't feel like buying one just to use it once. Is it absolutely mandatory to use one or is there another method I can use to install correctly? I assume this is to keep the rear strut pistons in place while installing the double tophat nuts to 15ft. lbs?
