I tend to agree but 16 and earlier cars was a bit stiff with damping. So if you don’t want to lower, just adding B6 is a nice improvement over stock. This is what I plan on doing, was gonna do yellows but my daily commute sees speed bumps and some rough highway, so no need to lower for a DD.
OP your situation is fixable. Sell what did not work and buy what has been proven to work. If you buy another car, the taxes and fees alone could have paid for the mods to get the car back to something you enjoy.
