there's been more than a few comments from actual sales staff from across the internet that people that know what they want are the exception, not the rule. most of them say that people that know what they want are more of a hassle, which also has to do with what i said just above-- all that matters is selling what they have because it counts towards this months sales numbers.

the majority of people decide they want a new car, go to the dealer, and see what's there. if they had a blue camry, but all that's in stock is a purple avalon, most people are perfectly ok with it. most people these days shop more on payment than color/brand/features anymore.
