so I will continue on to just buying a multimeter and looking for correct wiring diagrams. And honestly it works if I just hook up the 12v and ground but I want it to switch automatically. and I dont want to cut wires in the middle. thanks for the advice but I cannot follow that for this.

There's a pink wire in the trunk that feeds the reverse light. If I was looking for a 12v trigger wire for reverse, that'd be it.
There's even a ground bolt and a couple of wires right next to it.
I have a lot to say but I'm going to just hope you get your issues resolved and the car fixed.
