I beg to differ. A fella I knew in Houston in the late 60s-early 70s had a Chevy II running I don't remember what through a powerglide. He had survived polio and wasn't going to be pushing any clutches but it didn't matter. That car was one of the hottest street racers of the time.

LOL I was being facetious. Although the saying wasn't "slip and side with powerglide" due to the speeds you could hit! I ran one in a couple of cars.
