It's most likely the throwout bearing. Especially if it sounds like this:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56882

Lubrication on the throwout bearing dries out, and the bearing seized up. I had the same problem as the link above. Took it to the dealership (Subaru). They tried to give me some BS about how it's not covered by warranty. Then I pointed them to their Major Component Warranty policy which covers "Transaxle case and internal parts", found here:
https://www.subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?W...&WebSiteID=282

Key words there are "and internal parts". The only exemption is the clutch lining which is stated earlier in their policy.

Then they tried to scare me away by telling me that it may have been my driving style that caused the bearing to seize prematurely. I asked them how, and they said if they see score marks on the clutch, then it shows I may have been riding it, causing the clutch lining to wear faster and get into the bearing. And if they can prove this, then I will be responsible for all charges. I told them I'd love to see them prove that

They took my toy in, gave me a loaner ($10), then she was ready the day after.
It's only been a month or so, but the clutch is as smooth as the day I first picked her up.
