Well, first off, the boxer engine is a rather noisy engine, for a gas engine, mainly because it's direct injected.
Yes, it has a HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump) under the hood that can make loud "cricket" sounds.
I'm guessing your engine sound is "normal" ...... relax and enjoy the ride .... if something ain't right it will usually tell you with a code......
