The reason why people complain about a torque dip is because as you accelerate, you can feel a momentary lag in acceleration, almost like you took the foot off the gas pedal.

The more power the car has, the more pronounced it is.

The dip exists for a number of reasons, many of which is because of consumer habits and emissions regulations.
