Ah, yes, the 2 seconds thrill. Kinda like some other activity that peaks at a second or two... Moving from my FoST (250HP/270TQ) to the BRZ was a joy - I now had a usable 1st gear and I could happily wring 2nd and 3rd and still be in legal speeds. Can't imagine how it would feel with 400-500 HP. I'll take a short geared low HP car over a tall geared high HP car for street driving. The Twins are a perfect example of that.
So the answer for the question for me is - stock power is perfect!
