With the grimmspeed intake you just take off the cover screws which makes this process 1000x easier.

This is one of the reasons I'm thinking about this intake. If the new version clears without touching, I'll probably get one.
BTW I've got a Perrin oil cooler and the sandwich plate looks very similar to the one you've got. Might actually be the same.
