It's easy for a multimillionaire athlete to say that...
Particularly with events as technical as F1, there are a lot of relatively normal-sized incomes that are dependant on that money. If the millionaires, including drivers, team principals, etc, were to not only reduce their cut but also pay all the normal folk, then perhaps that would be a fair statement.
