You can check how many channels you can get over the air at you location
here.
I can get 51 from my home, including subchannels. Of course, some of them are basically junk, just like any other service provider.
I actually prefer watching the major networks OTA since the signal is uncompressed. it's a visible difference, particularly in something like racing with fast motion.
EDIT: Atlanta has a
total of 140 channels, but I'm out of the city quite a bit and am blocked from a couple of the broadcast antennas due to terrain.
