Sure there may be the very rare instance that deflating your tires may have a slight advantage but telling people to do it for all conditions is just foolish. Tire of all types work best when inflated to the recommended pressures.
Mostly just getting opinion one way or the other regarding wider vs narrower tires. Do you have any actual documentation where lower pressure was found to be inferior to higher pressure in the snow?
