I will say, the way the power delivery happens with *just* a tune from EcuTek helps a lot. Not sure if EcuTek tweaked the base throttle maps or what, but it's noticeably more responsive and more linear. It could still use some tweaking, but that's fine.
Thanks, it's clear now that tuning can solve it, but it's also basically the only option. I'll have to wait until I can get lots more seat time to decide if it's worth the risk. Few people seem to complain so I expect I can get used to it.

It really comes down to how much different it is vs. the other car I'll be driving. My WRX is tuned with an almost perfectly linear throttle, hence there being a little re-learning curve every time I spend lots of time in one then get into the other. I'll have a new DD soon, and for all I know it will be very similar to the GR86 and I'll forget all about that.
