Akio Toyoda hopes to not replace all cars with electric motors, and keep some sporting variety of cars with soulful and engaging piston gas engines like this. This hydrogen converted engine does need a catalytic converter to remove Nox, but unlike gasoline or diesel, the only other emission is water vapor.

Really happy to hear Toyota is trying to keep ICE around for performance vehicles. While I appreciate the benefits of an electric drivetrain, the emotional component of driving is heavily influenced by an engine/exhaust note.
