I would obviously like to pay less, but the dealer basically said that they could not go lower than invoice, and would only do that because they would still make the dealer profit fee (doc fee). I figured that invoice was fair considering that I was ordering a car that just came out. It's not like I was buying something that they were trying to get off the lot. Not much incentive for a dealer to slash prices on something so new.
The doc fees apparently have no rules or caps in my state (AL) according to
this site.
I live in the county so my tax rate is 2.75% vs. 4.00% in the city. So, that definitely helps. There is a "non-tax fee" of $16.50 on the quote sheet that I'm not sure about. Other than that, the price includes vehicle, doc fee, and tax.
I don't know about tags though. My guess is that it is a separate fee. I will have to look into that.
