Regardless, I think both cars are great and love that we have so many nice options coming out.
Because track times are the only important thing.

We can play the back and forth all day long. I get what he meant. My point was that the Supra has gotten a lot of flack for having "only" 335hp/365tq. It was apparent that these numbers were under-reported, or rather, that the figures were closer to whp/wtq versus flywheel. Still, since the release of the Corvette, people have questioned the value of the Supra even more, and I would have to agree that the Corvette offers a remarkable value for the money (power/tq, mid engine, dry sump, DCT), but I wanted to illustrate that the Supra will be able to close that gap some by out muscling the car with power.

There is a $10k difference in price, which is substantial, especially if a downpipe ($250), an exhaust ($750), and a tune (maybe $1500) can net more power than the Corvette. What would another $7500 do? Stay tuned...that channel is adding a bigger turbo. My guess is with a larger turbo, larger injectors and E85 the car will be capable of 600hp+.

Let's face it, the MKIV was decent on the track, but its bread and butter was being a high horsepower, highway queen, and that is what is likely to happen for both of these new cars. Most owners will be buying for the looks, for the feel and for the power then a smaller percentage will actually be pushing their car in the canyons from time to time and less still will be taking their car to the track. The Corvette is likely to be a Sunday driver for the middle aged man or converted into some twin turbo monstrosity for horsepower junkies, while the Supra is likely to be a tuner car and a daily driver for the JDM enthusiasts.
