Back in like 2005 we did a LOT of brake duct testing and developed a kit for GD chassis STI. Even had a pretty awesome carbon fiber version.
With a proper set up (ducting to the center of the rotor so cooler air gets pulled through the vanes) you'll increase the life of your rotors and pads. Blowing a small amount of air in the general direction of your brakes is no good.
