Basically the exit with the barbed end has a cutout into the chamber a little lower, so when only small amounts of pressure need to be bled off it dumps to that port.

The exit with the "horn" on it has the cutout higher, so that the piston has to travel much higher to dump air that way. Normal idle /cruise air dump is mostly/all out of the barbed exit, and it only vents to the "horn" exit during letoff at high rpm when there is boost in the charge pipes/vacuum in the manifold.

The barbed end is threaded into the body of the valve, as well as the horn end. You can swap them to whatever configuration you desire, or install the blockoff plate.

I only hear a loud release if I am cruising at very high RPM, or during shifting/letoff at high rpm. By high RPM I'm talking above 5K.

I could dial it in more using the adjustable spring to make it happen sooner/later, but it works just fine on any setting. I tried full soft up to about 75% tighter, and it just works. Always seals up when it should, and lets off excess when iti should
