On purpose. And not for show (that pic was my first show ever; I'm not huge on shows) as much as for thoughtful OEM engineering. I made a diagram about this earlier in this thread:



There are some exceptions like I felt the fatter TRD shift knob needed the fat TRD wheel (which has no STI variant) to complement the feel. Also look at all the Subaru stamped body panels on the FR-S or the valve cover that says both "Subaru" and "Toyota." I'm continuing the lack of continuity.
