It was a middle ground set up option since the standard rates are 225/280. Knowing how easy it is to add front springs, I felt it was best to make the square set up as an option. Its easier to add 280 front springs later. We have a massive amount of 280 front springs on our shelf. But this is something I do in conversation during the sale on a case by case basis. If it proves to be that everyone wants 280/280 square then we may make it so our kit comes with 280/280 square. We will cross that bridge when we get there.
The other reason is when you start making the rear of this car firmer on a set of shocks that is NOT damping adjustable you must make some sacrifices so that its not TOO firm in the rear so we made sure with KW that compression damping was forgiving in the rear in the areas that could make things uncomfortable. But having a good rear rate was absolutely necessary. hence the 280 lb rear spring. Similar approach the stock rear shocks have BUT....with more damping force.
Lets put it this way if someone wanted to run 400/400 on these shocks they could easily and it would NOT be underdamped.
Again this was about..."options" that could be had on a damper without a knob.

ps: sorry for the long answer.
