If I shift and feather the throttle to roll into boost more smoothly, the ignition retard does not happen.

Well I am glad to know its not just my car but it happens to me a lot and the fact I got it on a log and also a knock correction after makes me uncomfortable.
I heard back from Chris at Perrin saying they cannot correct it in a tune.
The guy I used for dyno work said it may be built into the throttle mapping to protect against drive train shock.
But I would prefer an answer obviously, of why it can't be fixed and the real reason for it.
