Actually, it's the phosphorus that can negatively affect the catalyst substrate: http://www.gf-5.com/the_story/performance/

Although I think this is a bit exxagerated. You have to be burning a lot of oil for it to even get to the cat. If it was that big of a problem, then nasioc, iwsti, legacygt.com, bobistheoilguy.com, any many other enthusiast forums, would be full of failed cat threads due to running mixed fleet gas/diesel oils like Rotella T6.

Some race oils contain reasonable amounts of phosphorus, while some oils (like Red Line's pure race oil) have much higher levels (double the amount of their street oils).

I'm currently running Motul 300V 0W-40 which has 975 ppm's of phosphorus (according to Blackstone virgin oil analysis), while the API SN Mobil1 0W40 that I've run in the past contains 1,000 ppm's of phosphorus (according to Mobil1.com). OTOH, I believe that Mobil1 Race Oils have high levels similar to Red Line's pure race oils. Miller's Nanodrive has p levels slightly higher than 300V, IIRC.
