Hmmm just drove a Mazda 3 Skyactiv auto...thoughts:
1. HOLY SHIT this thing warms up fast, idle went 1500, 1200 like 10 seconds later, and then 750 in maybe 10 more seconds, and then water temp light goes off maybe 20 seconds after the idle goes down. I wish my car had a smart warmup (and smart alternator), 10 minutes of high idling is really annoying.
2. Power, it's okay. My MR2 is a lot faster, expectedly.
3. No start stop? Guess that didn't happen in the USA, since we don't need to save no gas in this country.
4. Gear spacing is freaking huge, >35% rpm drop between gears 1-5, 5-6 is probably the same. I would guess that 6th gear and 60mph is like 1600rpm or something.
5. Oops I slammed the brakes when changing gears in manual mode, thought it was the clutch.
6. Hey manual mode is decent, it changes in under 1 second after you pull the stick, upshifts are rev matched unlike in GM cars, super smooth. Nice.
7. Torque converter fully locked over 2000rpm, not sure what the bottom limit is. Nice.
