As a parent of four, I admit that I have helped(somewhat) my oldest son get his first car. But, that was a used 2003 model, not a brand new 24kish sports car and so you are right that some parents will be able to do that, and others like me will not. I totally get the budget you are dealing with. I respect it, as I have been in the same spot. The whole point of this forum is that everyone has different views and wants for the car. I felt like I was being put into an uncomfortable box, and being portrayed as some snob who was looking to jack up the prices for the rest of the group. Maybe that wasn't the intent, but it sure felt like it. Honestly, I sincerely hope the premium BRZ comes with everything you want for $23,999
