What the hell does being 30 have to do with buying a car? I bought my FR-S at 30 because I'm an adult and I have a fucking job. You did the same. 25k is NOT a mid-life crisis car. Your dealer needs a reality check. If you went out and got a car you couldn't afford and didn't have a family contingency plan then I'd understand his comment.
Also in terms of hauling kids. I'm a single dad. My mini-me rides in the back of my FR-S. I bought him a Recaro car seat that matches the interior color. He rides better than anyone else in the car, and loves the car more than I do.
TL,DR: Your dealer is an asshole.
