I don't believe the hardware is at all the hurdle as most 32 bit software will run fine on a 64 bit OS. The software will not run on a 32 bit version of Windows 7. So once again it's a fault of the mini vci drivers not being compatible with a modern OS (32 bit or 64 bit). There hasn't been an update for the antiquated drivers even though the Techstream software has been updated to work with modern operating systems.

This goes to show the mini vci was just a workaround from the beginning. As the actual hardware required to run the software, that the dealers use, is several thousand dollars.

So yes, a VM running XP will work but that wasn't the reason this thread was created as it ran on XP using older versions.
