Used it 20+ years ago in the restaurant(s) I worked in. We used it to refer to specials or menu items which were not available, as in definition #2. We actually had an '86' list on a chalkboard. Then there was the usage at the end of the evening for said line cooks, when thrown out of the bar across the street,
