I wouldn't say BARELY, rather it stole a pretty hefty chunk of the Miata (small convertible) market. In fact, I see more S2000's on a daily basis (in the Phoenix metro) than any other convertible, i.e. Corvette, Camaro, Miata, Mustang, MR2 Spyder, Sebring, Camry Solara, BMWs, VWs, etc.
