If the car is waxed and clean when installed, a good, properly fitting and properly secured cover will not cause any damage. I swear by Covercraft's Noah covers, I have been using them for years and have one for each of my three cars. Although I rotate them, one car always stays outside and is always covered. The Noah is thick enough to protect from dings, is very weatherproof and is soft to the car's finish. I have never had a scratch or any damage from using these covers.

I get my covers from Auto Anything - they have good prices, free shipping and the service is great. The Noah cover for my FR-S was $207 delivered. You should get one set of Covercraft's 'Gust Guards' also, they help secure the front and back of the covers just forward and aft of the wheels. They keep the cover securely in place during any high winds.
