Straight cut gear MAY provide longer OCIs with the SC oil due to having less sheer between the teeth, but with today's synthetics I doubt it'd be noticeable.

Gotcha. So no real performance differences in the two gear types, just sound. The sound also being end-user preference in quieter vs loud whine. I think Vortech made the right choice with the quieter of the two gear designs.
Leave the whining to the twin-screws.
