I don't think anyone is saying there's anything wrong with the Type R. My first drive of one was at a driver training facility 15 years ago. After having a giggle that the owner (who I'd known for some time) had gone and bought a fwd, I drove it and couldn't wipe the smile from my face.

We subsequently had a few in our group with cars being in entered in national circuit racing and tarmac rallying events. They were fast and by fwd standards, engaging.

That mantle has now been passed and the new fwd king is a Renault. Long live the king.
