If you can hear it then it's outside the range of the knock sensors because they will detect it and adjust before you can hear it.
I'm surprised that 95RON made it pre-ignite because the book does say it can be used if 85 is unavailable but 98+ is what it's tuned for. 98 RON only on the filler cap, so I don't know how they can sell it in US states with only 91AKI available?

Yeah detonation melts pistons only if its detonating for a extended period of time, say for a hr or so. I am also equally surprised it detonates at only 95RON. But the general consensus is if you fill up with 95RON, dont redline it at every stop light haha!
