The performance hit with the power robbing auto is obviously significant.

Also auto transmissions, especially 6 speed ones are very prone to long term reliability issues. A new auto transmission for this car in 5 years will cost a huge chunk of change, compared to at most a clutch and slave cylinder replacement with the manual. And for a low volume car like this the odds of finding a trustworthy auto transmission rebuilder will be slim to none.

There are only a few logical reasons to buy an auto:. if you drive in a big city with constant traffic jams.. Or if you have a physical disability like knee damage that doesn't allow you to push a clutch. Either way I'd be looking at a different car.
