I also think that the socket (not the sensor) may be there and it's just the sensor for the headlights that is needed. The OBDII port observation, for the "ambient light" parameter is already set, such observation confirms my own belief.
The Subaru PDF attachment is pretty much the same on the Scion FR-S Manual page 1435 of the repair manual. The FR-S manual is already on this Forum.
Finding and confirming the existence of the receptacle socket would make the job much easier to just buy the sensor, drill a hole in the Defroster Nozzle garnish and plug the sensor into the pre-existing socket - if it's really there.

Do you know if the same automatic light sensor is used for the GT86 headlights? I have the auto leveling ECU and sensor from Nigel but the sensor doesn't look the same as the one shown in the diagram.
