I just try to give my best to explain what the differences are. That spoiler is a functional spoiler. Spoilers are supposed to give more aerodynamics stability and traction on the rear wheel drive. I'm sure they are not only designed for look. Fogs might not work for you, but they work for some people. There is a reason why they are called fog lights, and they are offered as an option. That is because people like you and me do not need one.

I've never seen any proof or even claims that the BRZ spoiler is functional on either the Scion of Subaru sites. Channeled roof and rear diffuser, yes, but that's standard on the twins.
I'll put that cash toward a set of sticky tires for auto-x.
