I'm in 4th and see a red light. I put my grear in N and let the car runs freely. Rpm will be back to idle and the car will slowdown slowly. Green comes on. Now. How do you shift it back to 3rd?

Clutch in. Rev up/put in 3rd. Release clutch and go likes downshift. I dont feel good when do this. When downshift. I only need to rev 6-700rpm over certain rpm. Bring the rev from idle to 2k-2k500 is kinda hard to me.

Clutch in. Put ib 3rd. Slowly release clutch/add gas just likes you go from 1-2-3-4. I fell better when doing this way.

Just asking of there's another way.
Free revving the engine to a moderate RPM (like 2.5-3K) is pretty light work for the car.

In the 2nd way you describe you are making the driveline do more of the work than just the engine in scenario 1 to match speeds. IMO your better off getting the engine where it needs to be, then engaging the proper gear.

Also, I don't take my car out of gear when coming up to a light until it's about to bog so if the light does turn green I can just go.
