Ispropyl alcohol 100% for rubber to metal connections. Softens the outer layer on the rubber and when it evaporates it forms a helluva seal. This is what makes factory hoses so damn hard to get off. God knows I've sniffed enough VOC's over my years doing it.
Probably a good tip for the rubber exhaust hangers as well
