First of all, its ECU not "CPU". Second, if your MAF sensor "meters" 10 lbs. of air, it will insert X amount of gasoline into the mix needed to properly mix with 10 lbs of air. If that "metered" air is lost via a leak AFTER the MAF sensor, the car does not know about the leak and it will still input X amount of gas required for 10 lbs of air. This will make an extremely rich condition.
Also, No one here is saying "remove the MAF sensor, or run without MAF sensor".
