First couple of days with the car I had two incidents were I began to change lanes into an overtaking vehicle. I set the outside mirrors way wider. It has never happened again.

I have adjusted both outside mirrors so that the line on the far side of the next lane appears in the lower outside corner of the mirror. Almost as far out as they adjust.

Glance in the rearview mirror, sideview mirror, over your shoulder; if you don't see it, it's not there.
