This is not correct.
Without the stock muffler you have a bumper that acts like a big parachute trapping air back there. This eliminates that problem if you are using a muffler delete or are using a different muffler set up. That was my primary motivation. Several people with muffler deletes were reporting unsettling rear end lift at high speed on the track. They were putting their stock mufflers back on. CSGmike is one of them. I can't remember who the others were.

My diffuser set up goes all the way to the cross member sealing off that space.
I am currently working on the underbody panels to create a nice flat surface underneath like the elise/exige/TRD griffon. Won't be done anytime soon though as I am taking my time.
