Not true in the dark, before I started using convex mirrors, I almost hit a motorcyclist trying to merge on the right lane because I couldnt see his headlight and he was definitely in my blind spot. Dont ask me how he got there, I have a habit of always checking my side mirrors in case some idiot tries to cut me off forcing me to swerve.
