You can put the camera anywhrere you want so long as you can tap power from somewhere.
For the BlackVue, you could simple spin the camera 180 degrees within its windshield mount and it'll now be facing inside the vehicle (you'll have to invert the video, of course).
On a related topic, other folks have mounted dashcams on top of the rear window looking outwards as a secondary camera, so that both front and back are always covered. Like the front, you could face that one in if you prefer.
