Where I live we have emmisions inspections where they plug into the ODBII, any codes even if reset within 100 miles fails so the tune has to be bullet proof for a longevity perspective.
Also does the larger blower add more stress on the front crank bearing? I've heard of supercharger stress wear out alternator bearings from the load, but I imagine the front crank bearing would be receiving a larger load.
Any history with Vortecs on Subaru boxers long term ?

I'm pretty sure they underspec'd it so that you can upgrade to a larger supercharger. If they only made a larger supercharger, people would complain that you couldn't upgrade it.
