Depends on the wing and placement. Theoretically, the DEW V1 generates excess of 500 lbs so I wouldn't trust the sheet metal alone. Our SEWs makes less and will likely make less in the real world and I'd bet most wings will make significantly less than ours. Paul's still working on the CFD and I'll make sure he posts the data once it's complete. It takes a
lot of processing (~4 hours on our workstation, ~24 hours on Paul's PC). However, we will offer a tow hook mount and this is a rendering of what it will roughly look like (the final upright shape will change to place the wing where it needs to be):
While this solution is not ideal, there are some real benefits.
Pros:
The wing is mounted to a structural part of the chassis to better transmit the load
The load is transmitted at the rear most point of the car for better leverage
You get a multi-purpose tow hook (we plan on making a few additional options in the future)
NOTHING is drilled or cut, EVERYTHING can fully be put back to stock
Cons:
The tow hook is loaded in bending and in shear
You need to buy two tow hooks and larger uprights so,
It is heavier
It is more expensive.
If you can deal with the additional cost and additional weight this may be the perfect compromise for having a fully functioning wing at the track and removing it for daily driving.
