Wouldn't that be inefficient though, designing two different types of F/I for the same engine? I could see this being true based on subaru's current use of turbos, but it would add cost to a project that was a joint effort to reduce cost.
To those talking about turbo lag, with modern designs and smaller turbos it's not the issue it used to be. My 07 wrx has pretty much instant power all the time, and it's ony got 224hp.
