I just thought I would qualify my earlier statement and remind you I meant no offense. I mentioned that because this is a common straw-man argument that is commonly used when a person through their actions or behavior, demonstrates a complete disregard for the good of society. Being "different" is good and it is the precursor to innovation but, being "different" just for the sake of being "different" is often counterproductive and can elicit disdain from one's peers.
My experience has shown me that while many people prefer to make statements such as "I don't care, accept me or whatever" really DO car what others think, but like the attention they get from their deviant behavior they are unwilling to change no matter what the cost to themselves or their relationships.
