That's exactly your issue. Hook the wire up on the antenna adapter to that wire on the head unit. If it doesn't work, test that wire out of the head unit to make sure it's supplying power. Alternatively, you can use the amp remote wire.
I was scratching my head trying to figure out how you had such crappy reception. I mean, FM radios aren't exactly new technology... even china knockoffs can get THOSE right.... haha
